How to clear or delete recent autocomplete Outlook Email Addresses

Dear friends,

Outlook has a auto completion for any email address that you've typed to "TO" and CC" fields. All the recent emails that you've typed would be exist on Outlook until you do some cleaned up or remove them. Usually for me, it would be a hassle if I made a mistake entering a incorrect email address and it would remain in there as one of option for me to choose (which sometimes I incorrectly choose the wrong one).

So, I need a way to remove cache or auto-complete email address from outlook. Here are the ways that I gathered from internet:

1. The easiest way (if you want to remove only one or couples email addresses):
  • Start typing in the email address that shows up incorrectly.
  • Hit the Down arrow key on the email address to highlight it.
  • Hit the Delete key to delete on the highlighted email address to remove auto complete email address.

2. Erasing the entire cache or auto-complete list is by deleting the .nk2 file in the profile folder. Here are the easiest steps:

  • Open up windows explorer, and paste the following into the address bar:
    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook
  • Find and delete the "Outlook.NK2" file that you find in this folder.
Hope this helps you out in cleaned up some unused email addresses :)
